Empowering Women in Parliament: CGG and MoGCA Hold Landmark Consultative Engagement

Freetown, Sierra Leone – With support from Trocaire and Irish Aid, the Campaign for Good Governance (CGG), in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (MoGCA), has strengthened efforts to empower female parliamentarians through a dedicated consultative engagement.

The session brought together elected women Members of Parliament for an in-depth discussion on key aspects of legislative leadership and collective action. Participants were equipped with practical knowledge on parliamentary procedures, standing orders, and the core functions of elected representatives, enhancing their capacity to perform effectively in their constitutional roles.

The training also focused on networking, monitoring, coaching, and peer support, fostering a culture of collaboration among female MPs. Through interactive sessions, participants identified a common agenda for women’s advancement and empowerment, laying the foundation for unified advocacy on critical socioeconomic and political issues affecting women and girls across Sierra Leone.

This engagement marks a significant step toward building a more inclusive, vibrant, and gender-responsive Parliament. We are confident that with strengthened capacity and solidarity, women parliamentarians will continue to champion transformative policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of all citizens.

NeWMaP commends CGG and MoGCA for their continued commitment to advancing women’s leadership and looks forward to further collaborations that deepen democratic governance and gender equality in Sierra Leone.
